I thoroughly enjoy this second part of ithe Men in the Cave Series. The characters and story both developed quite nicely. I like the touch of realism mixed with the supernatural. Also the blending of paganism with Christianity.Product details

Jar of Pandora Marisette Burgess 9780985676223 Books Reviews
I don't even know where to begin with this book...in a good way. When I finished Men of The Cave, I was excited to see where the next installment would go. And Marisette sure didn't disappoint. I empathized with Kasey's return to the states and her estranged boyfriend. Teal is such a great character and I found myself wishing for a reconciliation the whole time. Without giving too much away, it was nice to see more of the secondary characters in this book and find out more about why Kasey is so important to so many immortals. The pacing flowed nicely and the plot was solid. Lots of action mixed with too much heartbreak (I'm still upset over one death in particular), will have you on the edge of your seat. The ending is a bit stunning, and somewhat disturbing to me - although disturbing isn't always a bad thing in my book. I will admit that I have my idea of how Kasey should handle the situation, but I'll have to wait until 2013 to find out if Marisette agrees.
The Good Constant action, great mythological creatures, believable world building, and something different.
The Issue Maybe it's just me, but I'm still having a hard time believing Kasey's undying love for Dion. I felt more of a relationship (good and bad) between Kasey and Teal. Perhaps I'm biased, but I hope what I'm seeing will play into Kasey's decision in Book Three.
In Summary YA fans of mythology and love stories definitely need to check this one out. It's a "read in one sitting" type of book for me!

Love triumphs God but Destiny trumps all!
Truths and Destiny are discovered in this 2nd book of the Symbol of hope trilogy. The author does an amazing job adding to the plot in this blend of Christianity and Mythology twist leaving the reader hooked on every word, action, and emotional outcome of each battle won.
Kasey and Dion's love is so unconditional even with Kasey's first love "Teal" being thrown in the mix making it a complicated lovers triangle. Kasey is so caring and such a loveable character that was afraid to hurt anyone which made herself vulnerable to heartbreak -ache by not letting go of her feelings towards Teal and their past.
Deion was a man (immortal saint) that every female would want as their boyfriend. He was the most patient and understanding person especially when it came to the situation with Teal. He was above being jealous but at times you could see his struggle, yet he was willing to let Kasey go in order to make her happy. I actually got kind of aggravated because it seemed Kasey was spinning her wheels and wasn't brave enough to just tell Teal to bug off. LOL
The story introduced us to Kasey's dad & mom(nudist), and her little brother "Nolan" whom I loved immediately. Along with some interesting immortals (Leda (Amelia Earhart), Athena, Apollo & Artemis) and some deadly creatures (dragon, lion, snake monster)from the world of mythology, the story only increased the excitement and entertainment of battles with the 7 Men of the Cave with their powers and humanity's weakness and sacrifices - it is heart wrenching what happens to Nolan.
Kasey meets her grandmother Pandora and the Archangel Michael and learns the destiny of her being and her mission of saving humanity from the Greek Gods destruction.
I have to say that I was totally captivated and so mind blown away with the anticipated cliff hanger that I couldn't wait to start the 3rd and final book "Symbol of Hope" to see how the ending climaxed.
Fabulous Read! Addicting Trilogy!
Note Need to read the first book "Men of the Cave" first before reading this one or the characters and the journey will not make any sense.
This is the second book in The Symbol of Hope series and I really enjoyed it. In fact, I enjoyed it more than the first one and, in all honesty, more than I thought I would. See, I'm not a fan of love triangles and Kasey and I, well, we would never be friends. She's just sometimes SO annoyingly immature, especially for someone who's supposed to be a grown-up 19 year old, who had all of these responsibilities since she was young, including helping to raise her brother. When she is trying to portray herself as self-less, she really comes across as selfish - and her family comes across the same way. (I must say that she IS getting a lot better, especially by the end of the book.) Another character I'm not fond of is Teal. He is rude and his behavior bugs me to no end ... BUT my opinion changed of him as well as I read further into the book.
The adventures in this book are much more fun - and more vivid. There were moments that made me sad and moments where I was proud of how brave she was, how brave that Dion and his brothers were. The characters are much more in this one too - much more real.
I cannot wait to start on book #3 and see what happens next. They way Marisette set the ending up on this one, it makes you just want to literally jump into #3 to find out the end of the story. (But at the same time I am a little sad that it will end.)
While book #1 received a 4 star from me, this one I'm back and forth between a 4 and a 5 on.
I do want to point out that there are some editing issues with this book - not enough that it will ruin the story for you, but enough to need to be mentioned. I've brought it to the attention of the author and hopefully she will fix this.
Note I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review as part of the blog tour.
Loved it!!!!! The only thing I wanted was more story. Great characters and fast pased story. So your never left skipping over some of the slower parts.
This is the exciting continuation of Kasey's journey which definitely left me wanting more (again!). Looking forward to reading the conclusion.
Great story!
