So apparently I’ve been doing it all wrong… I have had two beers in total in 21 years. The first, a free Budweiser at a all-you-can-eat place, and a draft cream ale beer. The latter tasted better than the Budweiser, but I didn’t fancy it because it tasted like a mixture of different sodas to me. As I learned in chapter 4, malts give beers their sweetness and IPAs are the sweetest of craft beers and I should drink dried ones to please my palette. I actually found it under the list that, as she wrote in chapter 5, “usually have low hop character and are less assertive serving as a good starting point for someone converting from macro-brews to craft beer.”Monica’s book is not only valuable for a fun read, but necessary to keep around to refer back to as it has well-documented tables that explain the content of each draft beer in a cheat-sheet kind of way. Bottoms up!!

Graduate Your Beercraft A Poor College Kid Guide to Craft Beer Monica Fritz 9781544500188 Books Reviews
I loved every second of this informative and relatable guide. I do not think I would have been able to get through this semester without it!
What a fun, upbeat and educating read. I finally feel that I understand the craft beer industry and am no longer intimidated about trying new beers. Monica's writing style is hilarious. It's jam packed with great anecdotes that you don't want to miss out on. Her cheat sheets make it easy to be your own craft beer expert no matter where you are or who you're with. Definitely recommend!
This is the perfect book to read on a flight or over a weekend. As a college kid with little to no experience drinking anything above Bud Light, this book changed the way I think about beer. (Hint it's not all the same!)
Fritz' writing is quirky and funny, but always tries to get after the important thing - educating you on the beer. By the time your done with this, you'll be ready to order with anyone and not get laughed at.
I enjoyed this book and learned more about beer than I ever thought I'd know. And, after finishing the book, I went to a local restaurant and ordered a new craft beer from a new local brewery. (The beer was Jughandle Mosaic.) In my opinion it was very good and had a strong taste of citrus, (I think probably grapefruit). Anyway, thanks Monica Fritz for starting me on the way to new experiences and an appreciation of an industry that I never much thought about before.
